What the top 1% do differently — and how the Campus trains for it

Our rough assessment, calculated from the squad, playing-time and injury data in our scouting database (season 2025/26, as of autumn 2026). “Top 1%” means the most valuable players by market value — roughly 500 players, each valued at €20 million or more. All figures are rounded.

Goals: what the best strikers score

  • In the big European leagues, the top scorer of a season scores roughly 20 to 35 goals; the tenth-best scorer still around 13
  • In the Austrian Bundesliga the top scorer reaches around 15, the tenth-best around 9
  • Strikers in the top 1% score around 15 goals per season across all competitions — about three times as many as the average professional striker (around 5)

Playing time: minutes are the currency

  • Players in the top 1% play around 3,000 minutes in a season, spread over roughly 40+ matches
  • The average professional plays around 1,000 minutes in under 20 matches — about a third as much
  • Around one in three professionals plays less than 500 minutes in a season; in the top 1% it is almost nobody

Days out: availability

  • Top players are not injury-free: over a career they typically lose around three weeks per season to injuries — and fewer than one in twenty has never been out
  • What sets them apart is not the absence of injuries, but that they carry an enormous load — 40+ matches a season — and come back quickly
  • Caution when comparing: injuries of top players are documented much more completely than those of players in lower leagues

In short: the best players score more, play far more, and stay available under a far higher load. These are exactly the numbers the Campus programme is built around.

Which module works on which number

  • 1v1 and street soccer — winning duels and creating chances in tight spaces: more goals and decisive actions
  • Technique under pressure — finishing and passing when time and space are short: more goals and assists
  • Standout qualities and the X-factor — the one thing a coach picks a player for: more minutes
  • Position-specific game understanding — the decisions that make coaches trust a player: more minutes
  • Kickboxing — physical constitution, balance, duel strength and assertiveness
  • Athletics — strength, speed and robustness: winning sprints and duels, and withstanding a full season
  • Yoga — mobility, recovery and mental calm: fewer days out, composure under pressure
  • Physiotherapy — prevention and load management: fewer days out
  • Health and nutrition — energy, recovery and a body that holds up to 40+ matches
  • Personality coaching and mental training — consistency and performing when it counts: more minutes
  • Analysis (athletic, live and video) — knowing exactly where a player stands against these numbers
  • Law and finance — the right contract and the right next club, so that minutes follow

Every module of the SKN Excellence Campus is designed to work on these three numbers: more goals, more minutes, fewer days out. Four days do not change a career on their own — they show a player where they stand against the best and what to work on next.

Limits of this assessment

Rounded estimates from our own data, not official statistics. Market value is an estimate, too. The comparison shows what top players have in common; it does not prove what made them top players.
